How To Get Rid Of Wasps Using Natural Ingredients

by Harvie Simms

Getting rid of wasps sounds simple right? You just find the nest and spray it down with a huge can of wasp killer. But what if you don't have any idea where the nest is located, or it's in a neighbor's yard? To get rid of them, you can spray each wasp individually (you'd be there forever), or you can make a trap to help get rid of them naturally. You may not want to kill them using a harsh chemical, especially if you have pets or children around. See below for instructions on how to get rid of wasps using natural ingredients.

Natural Ingredient Trap

Here's What You'll Need:

  • 6 oz. vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Plastic container

Instructions:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a plastic container. Be sure the plastic container doesn't have any ridges inside, as the wasps can use them to get out. Your container should just be flat plastic inside and should be deep.
  2. Place the container around your yard where you have seen wasps. Then watch the wasps go into the mixture. The combination of ingredients will kill the pests without using dangerous chemicals.

You can also use a plastic 2 liter bottle for this. Cut the top of the bottle off, combine the ingredients into the bottom of the bottle, then place the top of the bottle inside the bottom half so the opening is pointing down. Leave the bottle outside in an area where children and pets cannot get to it. The wasps will go into the bottle and cannot escape.

Be sure to check the trap often to get rid of any dead wasps. Also, don't leave these traps out in the rain, as they can fill up with rain water and make them ineffective.

Natural Ingredient Spray

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Spray bottle
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. peppermint oil
  • 1 tsp. dish soap

Instructions;

  1. Combine the ingredients into a spray bottle and shake it well.
  2. Spray on wasps or their nest in the early morning hours or at night when they aren't as active.
  3. Spray once or more to ensure you got them all. The wasps will die within seconds.
  4. Safely remove the nest after you are sure the wasps are completely gone.

Wasps truly are pests, and can invade your garden, patio and yard making play time outside a little less fun. Get rid of them using the natural ingredients above. To find out more, speak with a business like Antex Exterminating Co Inc.
